Starting with a clean slate
Past, Present & Future
Today I finally completed my portfolio site - something I had been stalling on for a really long time.
I made countless designs, explored way too many iterations, and overthought almost every little detail. But this time, instead of trying to make everything perfect before starting, I just opened up VS Code, started with the Astro starter project, and began building.
No proper design references.
No fancy planning.
Just building whatever felt right.
And honestly? I’m finally happy with how it turned out.
Past
As of today, it’s been almost two years since I completed my Bachelor’s in Computer Science (2024 grad).
Right after graduation, I failed to secure placements - skill issue, honestly. To survive, I started freelancing, mostly doing design work and occasionally some development. Around the same time, I joined a small company as a User Experience Designer where I was earning around 8K INR a month. The workload was chill, and combined with freelance work, it was enough to keep things moving.
Fast forward to January 2025 - I got the opportunity to join a really good design studio based in Bangalore called BunqLabs, captained by Sindhur Dutta - an incredible designer and mentor.
He’s genuinely one of the most patient and skilled people I’ve worked with. A master at design and someone who really understood how to build and maintain a creative community. I was naive, sometimes blatantly stupid, but he always showed patience and taught me a lot of what I know today.
My sincerest thank you.
I spent almost a year there before leaving in December 2025.
Start of 2026
At the beginning of 2026, my main goal was to level up my skills.
Unfortunately, things didn’t exactly go as planned.
I picked up a few design projects and just kept going with the flow. Months passed quickly. Then I got another great opportunity - I won’t name the company - and initially, it was supposed to be a design role.
But the founder wanted more.
And as eager as I was, I said yes.
The pay was good, it was remote, and honestly, I was excited. The design phase went smoothly, but once development entered the picture, things became rough. I’ll leave it at that.
Eventually, my offer got revoked during probation.
Looking back, I definitely made mistakes too. I got lazy, lost momentum, and stopped pushing myself the way I should have.
Present
As of now, I’m hunting for a role and trying to become a better engineer than I was yesterday.
Recently, I got a verbal confirmation for a MERN role. It’s a work-from-office position, and honestly, I really hope it works out. The pay isn’t amazing, but I’m genuinely excited about working in an office environment, collaborating with people, and building real-world projects.
For now, I’m just waiting for the official offer and continuing to learn.
Future
Learn.
Build.
Ship.
Tools & The System

Most people don’t really care about the tools and software they use.
But I do.
For some reason, I’m obsessed with building the perfect system - something clean, minimal, and fast. So here are some of the tools I use daily, in no particular order:
- Fedora - OS
- Sway - Window Manager
- Foot - Terminal Emulator
- Helium - Browser
- VS Code - Writing code
That’s it for the first blog.
Still figuring things out.
Still learning.
Thank you for reading - it genuinely means a lot.
Take care, ciao.
